Everton tipped to agree another new deal as David Moyes to reward star who’s been a ‘good servant’

Everton could be set to continue with their flurry of contract extensions in th near future.

The Toffees have made a bright start to the new Premier League season, and that has coincided with them trying to secure the futures of some of their key players.

Jordan Pickford penned a new four-year deal at Everton last week, while James Tarkowski also extended his stay on Merseyside shortly before that.

David Moyes has been trying to tie down the spine of his team of late, and now another Everton star looks set to follow in the footsteps of his teammates.

Everton to trigger Idrissa Gueye extension next

Idrissa Gueye is another Everton player whose current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

The Senegal international has unsurprisingly been a key player for Moyes and Co. once again this season, as he has started all eight Premier League games, despite now being 36.

The Toffees hold the option to extend Gueye’s current deal by a further year, which would keep him at the club until after his 37th birthday.

Ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that his former club will trigger that clause for the midfielder in the near future.

“Yeah, I think so (Everton will trigger the clause),” King said.

“He’s been a good servant, and he’s a central part of the Everton team. He’s been a decent signing for them.

“Along with Tarkowski and Pickford, he’s a player who would cost money to replace. A year extension isn’t going to hurt Everton at all.

“By the sounds of things, he keeps himself very fit; he seems to live well, that’s why he’s playing regular football at 36. So full marks to him for that.

“I think that could be a positive move for Moyes and for Everton.”

Idrissa Gueye is in Everton’s top 20 Premier League appearance-makers

Gueye is still turning in consistently strong performances for Everton at this stage of his career, and his experience is invaluable for them in the middle of the park.

The former PSG man has had two spells with the Toffees, either side of his stint in the French capital, and he now finds himself inside the top 20 in their list of all-time record Premier League appearance-makers.

He has made over 200 appearances for Everton in the top flight, and appears to be showing no signs of slowing down, as he continues to cover every blade of grass for his team.

Gueye is one of the unsung heroes for Moyes’ men, and to keep him around for another year would be excellent business.
