Everton vs Tottenham: Players you didn’t know played for both teams

Everton face Tottenham on Sunday hoping to get back to winning ways.

Spurs travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 26 October in a similar situation, with just one win in their last five.

Everton will hope to bounce back from the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last time out, and inflict further pain on Thomas Frank.

The likes of Richarlison, Dele Alli, Andros Townsend and Nick Barmby are familiar faces to both sets of supporters, but Goodison News looks at players that fans may not remember played for the two clubs.

Everton

David Ginola

David Ginola ended his career with Everton, featuring five times for the Toffees before his retirement in May 2002.

His stint on Merseyside overlapped with David Moyes, who became Blues manager for the first time in March 2002.

Ginola could not recreate his brilliant form from his days with Newcastle and Tottenham, the latter where he won the PFA Player of the Year award for the 1998-99 season, and his time at Goodison Park is consigned to the history books.

Steven Pienaar

Steven Pienaar is a cult hero at Everton after spending four years with the Blues.

He initially joined on loan for the 2007-08 season and then made that deal permanent the next campaign, for a fee of £2million.

The South African wizard made supporters fall in love with him, but they would ultimately be heartbroken when he moved to Spurs in January 2011.

He was less prominent for the Lilywhites, making 18 appearances and notching a total of two goal contributions

He would return to Everton, initially on loan, before another permanent move to Goodison Park, and he finished his Toffees career with 26 goals and 45 assists in 229 appearances.

He spent time with Sunderland and Bidvest Wits before retiring in March 2018.

Aaron Lennon

Aaron Lennon featured 364 times for Tottenham in a spell that lasted 10 years from 2005 to 2015 at White Hart Lane.

He won the League Cup with Spurs in the 2007-08 campaign for the only silverware of his career, and he eventually joined Everton in 2015 on loan.

That move would become permanent for the 2015-16 season, and he went on to make 77 appearances for the Toffees, ending up with a total of nine goals and four assists.

He would spend time with Burnley and Kayserispor before retiring in 2022.
