Jack Grealish returns as David Moyes to take huge gamble – Everton predicted XI vs Tottenham

David Moyes could be about to take a huge gamble with his Everton team selection for Sunday’s clash with Tottenham.

The Toffees are looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after an unsurprising 2-0 defeat away at Manchester City last time out.

Jarrad Branthwaite is still out of action for Everton after he recently underwent surgery on the hamstring problem that has kept him on the sidelines since the summer.

However, David Moyes has plenty of options across the rest of his squad, and that could prompt him to make a striking alteration for the visit of Spurs.

Jack Grealish back as Thierno Barry to start vs Tottenham

Jack Grealish was unavailable for Everton last weekend as they took on his parent club, but he will surely come back into the starting XI for this weekend’s clash.

The England international has rapidly become a crucial part of the team for the Merseysiders, and nobody in their squad can better his tally of three big chances created so far this term.

Carlos Alcaraz is likely to drop to the bench to make way for Grealish, but that is unlikely to be the biggest call from Moyes for the game.

Beto’s struggles have continued in recent weeks, and that may tempt the boss into handing Thierno Barry a start, as he goes in search of his first competitive goal in English football.

The Frenchman was replaced at half-time during the 2-1 over Crystal Palace at the start of October, but Moyes may be prepared to hand him another opportunity after Beto squandered a golden chance at the Etihad Stadium last week.

Elsewhere in the side, the Scot has little room to manoeuvre in terms of his team selection, so the defence and midfield are likely to look identical to the one that fell to defeat in Manchester.

Thierno Barry start would be a huge gamble for Everton

Beto’s performance for Everton last weekend certainly left a lot to be desired, and they simply cannot rely on either of their two strikers to produce the goods at the moment.

The Guinea-Bissau international deserved to be dropped for his display last time out, but that means starting Barry, who has been equally as poor since he came to the club.

The 23-year-old is averaging just 10 touches per game and has won just 37 per cent of his duels so far this term, as he has struggled to make any sort of impact at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Barry has had just four shots all season, and simply hasn’t been a threat in front of goal at all.

It is a big gamble for Moyes to hand him the responsibility of starting the game, but the need to drop Beto may well outweigh the risk on this occasion.
