Everton vs Tottenham: Eight could miss out on Premier League clash amid injury latest
Everton host Tottenham on Sunday with both sides in desperate need of a victory.
Everton have a great record against Spurs recently, and they will be looking to record just their second win in their last six at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Thomas Frank’s side head into the 26 October contest in the same position as the Blues, having won just one of their last five, as the Sofascore graphic below highlights.
Both sides have injury issues heading into the clash, though, so that could have a significant bearing on the outcome.

Everton have two players out for Tottenham clash, including Jarrad Branthwaite
Moyes shared a double injury update for Everton ahead of the Spurs clash.
The Scotsman confirmed that Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson will miss out, the former requiring surgery on a hamstring issue, while the latter has a foot problem.
- Branthwaite has not featured this season after suffering an injury in a pre-season friendly against AS Roma
- Patterson has only played for the Under-21s in the EFL Trophy loss to Bradford, and has not made a senior appearance in this campaign
- Neither will feature against the Lilywhites, it has been confirmed
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “We expected him [Branthwaite] to be very close for Man City, he just did not feel right, and we got it checked and got some work done on it.
“No, we would not put a timescale on it, we will give him the chance to heal and take his time.
“Patto had a plantar fascia tear in his foot, which he picked up for the Under-21s against Bradford, which will probably keep him out for a couple of weeks, in that period he has had an issue with his hernia, so we are going to get it tidied up while he is out.”
Those absences are not ideal for the Blues, but they have proven that they can win without those two players already.
Who will be missing for Tottenham?
The Spurs boss spoke to the media at the same time as Moyes, and he confirmed several injury issues for his side.
Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie will be missing for the visitors, with Frank saying: “Cuti [Romero] just walked out on the grass running, positive and progressing, no timeframe but I don’t expect it to be a longer one.
“Destiny isn’t on the grass yet, not a longer one.
“Dominic is positive, he’s taking steps in the right direction every day. Sustainable amount of pitch sessions on his own.”
Pape Matar Sarr will be fit for the contest though, Frank confirmed that his selection is possible, saying: “Yes, there’s nothing wrong with him. It’s just competition and other players have done well.”
The likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin were already ruled out with long-term issues too.
Given the absentees for the Europa League winners and the form that the Toffees have shown at their new home, they will be confident that they can get a positive result.
They need it, to get their season back on track after a miserable recent run for Moyes and Co, which threatens to take away their ambitions of European qualification.
