Richard Keys cannot believe Everton controversy vs Tottenham after Chelsea flashpoint – ‘It’s baffling’
Everton lost at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time on Sunday, after a disappointing display against Tottenham.
Tottenham beat Everton 3-0, with Micky van de Ven scoring twice from set-pieces in the first half.
The Toffees had their chances, but never really looked as if they were capable of getting back into the game.
Beto has been slammed for his Everton performances this season, and the striker was poor again before he was replaced by Thierno Barry in the second half.
Everton had not lost at home to Tottenham since 2018 before Sunday’s game, with Moyes bound to be disappointed at the way his side threw away the match.
It could have been so different, too.

Richard Keys stunned by decision vs Tottenham
Tottenham’s opener came from a corner, with Van de Ven nodding in from close range after the ball had been headed back across.
Just five minutes later, however, Everton looked to have done the same thing when Jake O’Brien powered home to put the Toffees back on terms.

But the Video Assistant Referee, Stuart Attwell, intervened, recommending that Craig Pawson have a look at the monitor to rule on a possible offside.
Iliman Ndiaye was standing in an offside position next to Vicario and was adjudged to have interfered with the Italian’s ability to keep out the header.
Richard Keys pointed out that a similar incident with a different result took place on Saturday, however.
“So Sunderland’s goal at Chelsea allowed despite Geertruida being in the line of sight of the keeper,” Keys wrote on social media.
“But Everton’s is disallowed. Why? Vicario had no chance of getting that. It’s baffling.”

What happened in the incident Keys is referring to?
The incident Keys is referring to took place in the closing seconds of Sunderland’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Chemsdine Talbi scoring the winner.
Brian Brobbey was played through on goal and held off the challenge of the Chelsea defender, before laying off to Talbi.
Lutsharel Geertruida had made a run beyond both players, and when the winger struck the ball, was standing in an offside position and in Robert Sanchez’s line of sight.
There was no extensive check from the video assistant referee, however, and the goal was allowed to stand without challenge.
Although the circumstances were very different, Everton will feel incensed about the difference in treatment between the two incidents.
