Everton have new transfer priority after what happened in Tottenham loss

Everton were hammered 3-0 by Tottenham as their impressive Hill Dickinson Stadium record was destroyed.

Everton had not been beaten at their new stadium before Spurs came to Merseyside on 27 October, but they were taken apart by Thomas Frank’s side.

The clash was not without controversy, as Everton had an equaliser ruled out in the first half before the visitors had a goal allowed despite a blatant push on Jordan Pickford.

However, David Moyes can have no complaints as his side were below par, and have a new area of concern after the contest.

Vitalii Mykolenko was one of the worst players on the pitch for Everton vs Tottenham

Right-back and striker have been touted as Everton’s main issues to solve in the winter transfer window, but they have a new prority position.

Vitalii Mykolenko was arguably the worst player on the pitch in the defeat, and that should spark major concern for Moyes and Co.

The Ukrainian full-back failed with all three of his attempted crosses and only completed 50 per cent of his four attempted long passes, as per Sofascore.

Defensively, he was dribbled past twice, failed with the only tackle that he attempted, but he did make three recoveries.

In terms of duels, he had a miserable afternoon, winning just two of seven on the ground, for a 29 per cent success rate.

It did not get any better in the air, as he won just one of the three that he attempted, for a 33 per cent success rate.

Despite that, he stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, and Moyes did not bring Adam Aznou off the bench to replace the 26-year-old.

Everton need a new left back in the transfer window

While the focus is on a right-back and a forward, the left-back position is quietly emerging as a genuine worry for the Blues.

Mykolenko’s recent performances have been concerning, and Moyes clearly does not trust Aznou to step up at the moment.

If the Toffees are to have any chance of qualifying for European football this season, they surely have to bolster the position.
