Everton to make ‘transfer promise’ to lure Charlie Cresswell with stunning £15m deal on the cards
Everton may already have the ideal addition to their squad in their sights ahead of the January transfer window.
The Friedkin Group sanctioned nine new arrivals over the summer, as they continue their bid to help take the Toffees to the next level in the Premier League.
Everton have been linked with a move for Ivan Toney recently, but he is far from the only target on their list as the winter window begins to approach on the horizon.
David Moyes has overseen a bright start to the new campaign, but he will still be desperate to add the necessary reinforcements when the chance presents itself.

Charlie Cresswell a ‘perfect fit’ for Everton amid £15m development
Everton are tracking Charlie Cresswell ahead of the January window, as they are part of a number of Premier League clubs that are seemingly queuing up to sign the England U21 centre-back.
The Toulouse defender starred in the Young Lions’ triumph at the U21 European Championships in the summer, and could now be available for as little as £15million, according to TBR Football.
Cresswell has also previously played with Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner as part of the England youth setup, meaning he is already familiar with some of the key players in the Merseysiders’ ranks.
Ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that those relationships would make the 23-year-old an ideal addition to Moyes’ backline.
“He’d certainly be worth a look for Everton,” King said.
“He knows the players who are there, and he’s at a very good age. If he’s available, I’d be very surprised if Everton didn’t make a move for him. I’m sure they could promise him a first-team place as well, because I can’t see (Michael) Keane being a regular long-term.

“If that’s the sort of player that Everton want to bring in, then Cresswell sounds like he’d be a perfect fit for the squad.”
The Toffees’ lack of depth will work in their favour on Charlie Cresswell
Branthwaite’s latest injury setback is a big blow for Everton, and it further serves to reinforce the idea that they are desperate for more depth at the heart of their backline in January.
Cresswell is an extremely capable option for them, but they face heavy competition from elsewhere in the Premier League.
- Cresswell played every single minute of England U21s’ Euro 2025 campaign
- He is a product of Leeds United’s academy system
- He made 31 appearances for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season
However, the Toffees’ lack of depth could actually work in their favour on this occasion, as the youngster would undoubtedly be promised plenty of gametime if he made the move.
The fact that James Tarkowski and Michael Keane are both nearing the end of their careers also provides the opportunity for Cresswell to come in and build a long-term partnership with Branthwaite, which could potentially form the spine of the team for several years to come.
When you then throw in the fact that a £15m outlay would be largely insignificant for Premier League clubs, it is surely a no-brainer for Everton to try and get a deal done.
