Everything Alan Shearer said about Beto and Iliman Ndiaye in ‘incredible’ verdict after Everton vs Tottenham
Everton will be licking their wounds after their disappointing defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
Tottenham beat Everton 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with goals from Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr going without response from the Toffees.
It has been a difficult run of games for David Moyes‘ side, who have won just one of their last seven games across all competitions.
The poor form of Beto and Thierno Barry is among the greatest issues, with Everton in desperate need of signings in the upcoming transfer window.
Everton have considered a move for Gabriel Jesus, but the striker is returning from an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament and would likely need time to get back to full fitness.

Alan Shearer stunned by Vicario saves vs Everton
Everton did have their moments against Tottenham, with the huge disparity on the score sheet not reflective of how the game actually progressed.
The Toffees created more expected goals – 1.74 to Tottenham’s 1.72 – and took 12 shots at the visitors’ goal.
| Everton | Match stats | Tottenham |
| 54% | Possession | 46% |
| 12 | Shots | 7 |
| 2 | Shots on target | 4 |
| 1.74 | Expected goals (xG) | 1.72 |
| 9 | Corners | 8 |
| 3 | Big chances | 4 |
But the game was ultimately decided by finishing, and where Thomas Frank’s side excelled, Moyes’ men could not.
Beto enjoyed two superb chances, one early in the game, which the striker missed completely, and one in the second-half, which Spurs stopper Vicario swatted away.
Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye also could have scored, but both were also denied by the Italian. For his efforts, Vicario was named in Alan Shearer‘s Premier League team of the week.
The former Newcastle United striker said that the goalkeeper “made two incredible saves to deny Beto and Iliman Ndiaye, protecting Spurs’ 2-0 lead before they got their third goal in an excellent win at Everton.“

What David Moyes said after Everton’s disappointing loss
There were certainly positives for Everton to take from Sunday, but Moyes would not have learned anything new about his team.
The Toffees, as they have done for much of the season, were not incapable of creating chances, but continued to struggle to take them.
“Overall, the play was good enough to earn more than we did today, we’ve just got to try to tighten up and finish off some of the good play and the chances we have,” Moyes said.
A difficult trip to Sunderland is up next, with the Scot set for a full week of work on the training ground to gee his players up once more.
