Jeff Stelling exposes David Moyes problem as he makes Sunderland vs Everton prediction

Everton travel to Sunderland on Monday looking to arrest a dismal run of form.

Everton lost 3-0 to Tottenham last Sunday, taking their miserable run to just one win from their last seven matches.

Meanwhile, Sunderland continued their brilliant start to the season with a 2-1 win over Chelsea, to rise up to fourth in the Premier League table.

Everton are slight favourites to beat the Black Cats, according to the Opta supercomputer, but Moyes and Co. cannot be too complacent.

Jeff Stelling predicts a tough time for Everton against Sunderland

Everton boss David Moyes has lost just twice against Sunderland in his time as a manager, but Stelling believes his side will be defeated on this occasion.

He slammed the lack of firepower that the Blues possess as the reason that he expects them to be beaten on Wearside, exposing an issue that Moyes is already well aware about.

Making his predictions for talkSPORT on 30 October, he said: “Monday Night Football closes out the action as Sunderland take on Everton.

“Hats off to Sunderland, no luck involved so far for these Black Cats.

“Could they notch a fourth home win in five, they could.

“The Black Cats to get the cream against the toothless Toffees, Sunderland 1-0 Everton.”

Everton’s three keys to victory against Sunderland

The Blues are capable of spoiling the party for the Mackems when the sides meet, but they must do three things at the Stadium of Light on 3 November.

Firstly, they must start fast in the contest, put the hosts on the back foot and therefore drain the energy out of the vociferous crowd.

Secondly, they must get Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye on the ball as much as possible, as they are the creative sparks for Moyes’ side, and Beto and Thierno Barry cannot cut it at the moment.

Finally, the Toffees have to stay solid defensively, because Le Bris’ charges have shown that they do not give up and will always try to fight back.

That was evident when they went 1-0 down against Chelsea and still managed to win the contest at Stamford Bridge.

Everton cannot afford to switch off, even if they take the lead, they must stay alert and focused and not allow the newly-promoted side to get back into the game.

Moyes needs his side to get back on track, pick up three points and move on.
