Everton and Sunderland team news latest as seven set to miss out at Stadium of Light

Jarrad Branthwaite will be among those absent when Everton make the trip to Sunderland on Monday night.

Everton lost 3-0 to Tottenham last time out and will be looking for a response when they face an in-form Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

David Moyes has a number of Everton issues to fix, not least getting more out of his strikers as a lot of Jack Grealish’s strong work is going unrewarded.

Somewhat surprisingly, Everton are the favourites to beat Sunderland despite being six points behind their opponents in the table.

And while Branthwaite may be ruled out for the Toffees, Moyes only has one other issue of note to contend with.

Everton and Sunderland injury list in full

Branthwaite underwent surgery on a hamstring issue last week after suffering a setback on his comeback, ruling him out for the foreseeable future.

Moyes also confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Sunderland that Nathan Patterson is definitely out.

Those are the only injuries of note for the Toffees, while Sunderland look set to be without five players on Monday.

Habib Diarra, Leo Hjelde, Romaine Mundle, Dennis Cirkin and Aji Alese are all out of the match, as per Ben Dinnery of Premier Injuries.

Omar Alderete is to undergo a late fitness test, meanwhile, as is Dan Neil on a head injury.

Everton have dreadful Sunderland away record to address

Sunderland defeated Chelsea last week and have been a breath of fresh air since returning to the top flight.

In fact, should the Black Cats defeat Everton on Monday, they will climb up to second place in the Premier League.

Recent Everton trips to the Stadium of Light have not tended to go too well. The Toffees have won on just two of their last eight league visits.

The most recent of those wins was in March 2012 when prevailing 2-0, but since then they have drawn 1-1 twice and 2-2 once.

A draw would not be the worse result this time around, but those making the trip will be quietly hoping for more ahead of their return to Merseyside.
