talkSPORT pundit sorry for what Thierno Barry made him say in Everton clash vs Sunderland – ‘Unacceptable’
Dean Ashton couldn’t believe what he saw from Everton striker Thierno Barry against Sunderland.
Everton have travelled to face Sunderland and, thanks to Iliman Ndiaye, are 1-0 up heading into the half-time interval.
The Toffees have been much-improved after Everton lost 3-0 to Tottenham last time out, but arguably should already be out of sight.
Ndiaye scored as he did against Crystal Palace, but Barry should have made it two when he somehow put an effort over the bar from barely three yards out.
Former England striker Dean Ashton was left angry by what he saw from the Frenchman as he slated him live via talkSPORT on 3 November.
He said: “I’m sorry, you can’t miss those chances at this level. This is Premier League level. Brilliant from Grealish, Sunderland are not set, and it’s clipped to the back post.
“It’s perfect for Barry, four yards out, a simple side-foot needed, but it’s a slash at it and over the crossbar. Sorry, that’s unacceptable at this level.“

Thierno Barry misses golden chance vs Sunderland
Barry signed for Everton from Villarreal over the summer in an exciting deal on Merseyside, involving a considerable fee.
The Frenchman has failed to live up to expectations so far, but has been afforded limited opportunities by Moyes in blue.
That changed against Sunderland as it seems the Scottish head coach had grown tired of Beto missing so many clear-cut chances, as he did against both Manchester City and Tottenham.

Barry came in, but only managed to replicate his teammates’ failings after lifting a strike over the bar after an excellent Jack Grealish cross.
Moyes was left with his head in his hands and for good reason after yet another shocking miss from an Everton number nine.

The Toffees have had such issues in front of goal in recent weeks that they needed to take a gamble on the 23-year-old from the start at the Stadium of Light.
Things started perfectly as Barry knocked down a header, ready for James Garner to take aim on the half volley.
That sort of impact didn’t continue in front of goal with the ex-Villarreal man guilty of missing such a clear-cut chance.
The striker clearly enraged Moyes with the miss, with Don Goodman catching the reaction of the head coach live on Sky Sports Main Event.
He said: “When that ball went sailing over the bar, I took one look at him and his body language was, ‘What more has a striker got to do. How on earth are his strikers missing chances like this?‘
“Barry gets his chance, he can’t miss it. That’s the reaction of a man [Moyes], that knows what a huge moment that could be.“
The forward has to turn the tide in the second half and make up for his error or potentially be forced to deal with letting his side down in SR5.
