Jamie Carragher in love with Everton player who could play for Manchester City
Jamie Carragher was blown away by what he saw from Iliman Ndiaye in Everton’s draw with Sunderland, even going as far as to say he could be a Manchester City player.
Ndiaye opened the scoring for Everton in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday.
If not for a terrible miss from Thierno Barry, Everton likely would have returned to Merseyside with all three points.
Granit Xhaka equalised early in the second half, though, and Sunderland thought they should have had a penalty fairly late on when the ball struck Michael Keane’s arm.
The Premier League released a statement to confirm why a pen was not given, much to the anger of the home fans.
Ndiaye was taken off injured during the second half in what could be a blow for David Moyes, given just how good the attacker has been for Everton this season and indeed last season.
Iliman Ndiaye shows Everton quality once again
The metrics point towards Ndiaye being one of the Premier League’s very best this season.
And the 25-year-old again stepped up against Sunderland with a truly superb goal inside 15 minutes.
As per Sofascore, that goal came from one of two shots Ndiaye registered at the Stadium of Light in his 62 minutes on the field.
Ndiaye’s goal came from an expected goals return of 0.21, showing just how well he did to take his opportunity.
He was successful with one of his three dribble attempts, meanwhile, and completed 14 out of 16 passes.
Just as pleasing to Moyes will be the three duels he won and one tackle, showing he can help out in a defensive sense.
Carragher was certainly impressed by what he saw in the first half, telling Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football at the interval: “He’s an absolutely fabulous player. He’s brilliant.

“I watched him a couple of weeks ago against Man City; it looked like a Man City player was playing for Everton – that’s the best way I can describe him.
“This guy is Everton’s best player, and he was Everton’s best player last season by a long way.“
What did David Moyes say about Ndiaye’s injury?
Ndiaye hobbling off with an hour played was not a nice sight to see, but the good news is it does not appear to be anything to worry about.
| Sunderland | Everton | |
| 1 | Goals | 1 |
| 1.09 | Expected Goals (xG) | 0.86 |
| 17 | Shots | 8 |
| 3 | Shots on target | 2 |
| 60.8% | Possession | 39.2% |
| 30 | Touches in opposition box | 19 |
Speaking to reporters after the game, Moyes said: “I don’t think it’s anything serious. I think he picked up a bit of cramp and was worried about it.
“It was a wonderful goal he scored – and typical Ili. He’s got dancing feet and it was a really good goal.”
Ndiaye has five days to shake off the suspected cramp ahead of Everton hosting Fulham at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.
