Mikel Arteta may just get his wish, this is when Everton vs Arsenal may now be played

Everton fans will not be happy as it looks like Mikel Arteta is set to be handed his wish for their fixture to be moved.

Arteta is a cult hero after his years at Everton, but he now takes charge of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Arsenal are currently scheduled to play David Moyes‘ side on 21 December, but that date could be moved as the Gunners have fixture congestion towards the festive period due to their progress in the Carabao Cup.

Everton vs Arsenal could be moved to March

Arteta may get his wish as the clash with Everton could be played in March, as the Gunners only have five matches in that month.

There is gap between 17 March and 1 April, when the international break and cup fixtures are due to be played, so there could be room to fit the contest in there.

It probably depends on whether either side are still in the FA Cup, as to whether the game could be switched to that month.

If it were to be played in the international window, it would likely take special dispensation from FIFA.

Premier League should not bow to Arteta’s demands

The Premier League cannot bow to Arteta’s demands.

Why should his side get special treatment? Every side has a rough festive period, with numerous games to navigate in quick succession.

The former Blues star is paying the price for his side being one of the best in the world, he should not get sympathy for that.

It may suit the Gunners to have the fixture moved, but it is not the right move for the Toffees, as they would probably rather play the league leaders when they have a lot of games.

The rotation, or if Arteta refuses to rotate, would likely give the Blues a better chance of victory, so they should refuse to move the clash.
