Fulham could push David Moyes one step closer to sack after latest Everton reveal

Defeat to Fulham would pile the pressure on David Moyes at Everton after a patchy start to the campaign.

Despite there being a lot of optimism at the start of the season, Everton find themselves in a slump once again.

Off the back of Everton’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland, in which they were perhaps lucky to escape with a point, the Toffees have won just one of their last eight in all competitions.

Relegation isn’t likely to be too much of a concern for Everton this season, but the future of Moyes could come under fire if another defeat comes their way this weekend.

Everton could lose consecutive home games for first time since January

Whether you’re fighting for the title, battling against relegation, or looking to spring a surprise in the chase for European qualification, home form is absolutely crucial.

Points picked up away from home are often seen as a bonus, but only if they arrive frequently on their own soil.

At the Hill Dickinson Stadium last time out, Everton suffered a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, and if Fulham take all three points on Saturday, it will be the first time since January that the Toffees have lost consecutive home games.

The last time they did that under Moyes was back in 2011, showcasing just how much of a rarity it is on Merseyside.

Everton have shown very few signs of progression this season, and that record would only add fuel to the fire when it comes to talk around the Scotsman’s future as manager.

Everton on course to narrowly escape relegation

It is highly unlikely that the Toffees are embroiled in a relegation fight, but only if things start to improve.

On average this season, Everton take 1.2 points per game, and when totalled throughout a season, it would see them finish with 45 points.

Last campaign, that would have seen them safe by some margin, but given the competition posed from the newly-promoted sides this season, the abr is likely to be much higher.

Typically, 40 points are required to stay in the Premier League, and this would see the Toffees finish just five points above that threshold.
