Jack Grealish should be deeply annoyed after Thomas Tuchel’s England press conference
Everton ace Jack Grealish has every right to be angry after Thomas Tuchel failed to explain his absence from the England squad.
Grealish has been a breath of fresh air for Everton, with his maverick playing style contributing to a positive start to the campaign for the Blues, as the Sofascore graphic below highlights.
Although David Moyes’ side have seen results not go their way recently, Grealish has still been one of the standout performers, and he will have expected to have been called up.
However, he will be sat at home for the clashes with Serbia and Albania after Tuchel decided not to select him.

Jack Grealish was not mentioned in England press conference
Grealish has been tipped for an England recall after his Everton exploits, but it has not materialised, and the ex-Chelsea manager has gone with other options.
Tuchel was not even asked about it, nor did he mention the Toffees’ star’s absence in the press conference after he named his squad.
The 30-year-old Manchester City loanee will surely be deeply annoyed at the fact that Tuchel has not explained his decision.
Everton should get even better Grealish after England snub
Quite frankly, it is a disgrace that Tuchel has not even bothered to give a reason for excluding Grealish from the squad.
He has been one of the most electric players in the Premier League this season, and it is unfathomable that he may not make the 2026 World Cup squad.
- Grealish has notched four assists and one goal for the Blues so far
- He has not featured for England since October 2024, in a 3-1 win over Finland
- He has 39 caps for his country, but does not look like adding to that anytime soon
The Blues may well benefit though, as Grealish will be more determined than ever to prove Tuchel wrong, and earn his place on the plane for the tournament in the United States.
Whether he can do that, and force the 50-year-old into a rethink, remains to be seen, but it seems like an unlikely option at this point.
The only Toffees star to make the Three Lions squad for the competition may well be Jordan Pickford, who is the number one option between the sticks.
