‘Absolutely fantastic’ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall lauded for something he never did before Everton

Theo Walcott waxed lyrical about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in his analysis of Everton’s victory over Fulham on Saturday.

The midfielder was in fine form as Everton beat Fulham 2-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Idrissa Gueye got the first goal for the Toffees, poking home after Tim Iroegbunam‘s effort deflected into the Senegal international’s path, before Michael Keane put the seal on proceedings.

Thierno Barry was praised for his impact against Fulham, with the striker proving a constant threat despite failing to net his first goal.

Wayne Rooney was in attendance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the former Blue’s return coincided with a first win in four for David Moyes‘ side.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is ‘playing with a lot more confidence’

Everton signed Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea in the summer, and the midfielder instantly hit the ground running on Merseyside.

His first goal came against Wolves at the end of August, and the Englishman has continued to look a threat in the games since.

Against Fulham, Dewsbury-Hall was superb. The former Leicester City man created a big chance, bagged an assist, and made several key defensive contributions.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, former Toffee Walcott picked out the 27-year-old’s performance. “Idrissa Gueye has always been an Evertonian at heart,” he said.

“But what I really like was Dewsbury-Hall getting the minutes, he’s getting the time, and he’s the willing runner out of the three, who’s always willing to be able to create these chances out of nothing.

“Technically on the ball as well, fantastic. This is what I’m talking about. He’s the player who likes to carry the ball, ball-carries, wins free-kicks, and we know how important free-kicks are this season, particularly. I think he’s playing with a lot more confidence as well.”

“I think he’s been an absolutely fantastic signing for them, I think he’s deserved to be in this role, and he’s playing with a lot more confidence than he ever has done,” Walcott added.

David Moyes fully appreciative of Dewsbury-Hall

Moyes was asked about the impact of Dewsbury-Hall after the game, and the Scot did not hold back in his praise for the summer signing.

“He was terrific today,” the Everton boss said. “I think he’s made such a difference to the team. He’s made us much more creative and sort of cultured in the way we play.

“And he might be going under the radar a wee bit, even from Evertonians. He’s playing so well.”

Dewsbury-Hall certainly did not go under the radar on Saturday, with the £28million Everton paid looking better and better as the weeks go by.
