David Moyes hints at new solution to biggest Everton issue live on air
Everton boss David Moyes seemed to propose a fresh solution to Everton’s goalscoring issues on Monday morning.
Everton’s striking options have been woeful, with Beto and Thierno Barry having just one goal between them in the opening 10 Premier League matches.
Everton have been linked with the likes of Ivan Toney and FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju in the winter transfer market.
However, the Scotsman may have an ace up his sleeve at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after what he revealed live on air.

David Moyes may already have a plan at Everton
Moyes is well aware of Everton’s biggest issue, but he may already have a plan to solve it.
The 62-year-old harked back to his time at West Ham, when he had a similar problem, and ended up utilising Marco Arnautovic or Michail Antonio up front, because there was no one available on the market.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 10 November, he said: “Even at West Ham, I used to keep being told, ‘you need to buy a new striker’, and I thought you’re probably right, but we couldn’t find one, so Marko Arnautovic became a centre-forward, Michail Antonio became a centre-forward.
“Sometimes you have to find it within if you can’t find it, it’s always been important, it not as if it just important now, it has always been important in football.
“It has just felt probably a bit more difficult to get people who can get those goals which everybody needs.”

Iliman Ndiaye could be the solution for Everton
Given that Moyes suggested the possibility of turning a winger into a striker, like he did with Arnautovic and Antonio, it makes sense for Iliman Ndiaye to play as a number nine.
The Senegal international has already proven that he can adapt to a new position, after being shifted to the right flank to accommodate Jack Grealish’s arrival on Merseyside.
- Ndiaye scored nine goals in the Premier League last season from the left
- He has scored four and assisted one in 10 league matches so far this season, from the right wing
- He bagged 14 goals and 11 assists playing as a nine for Sheffield United in 2022-23 season
Therefore, he could be moved to a central role to lead the line, and it would perhaps make the Toffees’ stronger in midfield, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall dropping deeper, so that him and Ndiaye are not taking up the same positions.
That would allow Moyes to hand Tyler Dibling more game time, and develop the young winger, who Everton spent a pretty penny on, in the summer.
The move could work out for all parties, and it may even inspire the two forwards to get their act together.
