David Moyes to get on phone with Dan Friedkin after Thierno Barry latest at Everton

David Moyes has been left short-changed by Thierno Barry since his move to Everton in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees signed the 23-year-old for £27million from Villarreal, but he’s yet to live up to expectations in L4.

Barry hasn’t had the best of starts at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and fans will soon start to lose hope in the youngster at the Blues.

Beto has been another disappointment for Moyes at the Merseyside outfit this season, leaving the Scottish manager with a clear priority.

Dan Friedkin must invest in new striker at Everton

While Moyes would arguably ideally like a new number nine in January, there might not be a lot of quality options out there.

However, what’s clear is that the Scottish manager needs a reliable striker at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, whether in the winter or next summer.

Ivan Toney has emerged as an option for Moyes, and he should get on the phone with the Friedkins to make it happen, no matter how much it costs in L4.

The former Brentford striker made a name for himself in the Premier League before moving to Al-Ahli in 2024, where his goalscoring exploits have continued.

Barry was once again given the nod to start for the Toffees against Fulham at home on 8 November, but in the centre-forward’s 79 minutes on the pitch, he missed one big shot and lost possession 16 times, as per Sofascore.

The French youngster registered an xG of 0.33, completed just 53 per cent of his passes, was caught offside twice and lost four of his seven aerial duels in the 2-1 victory.

Thierno Barry record in Premier League gloomy

Barry has struggled to secure regular minutes under Moyes this season, and the striker hasn’t justified his inclusion in the Blues’ starting lineup.

The centre-forward is yet to score a goal for Everton in his 11 Premier League appearances, registering an overall xG of 1.34, as per Sofascore.

It just goes to show that the former Villarreal star hasn’t done enough to find the back of the net for the Toffees, and he hasn’t helped himself by missing four big chances this season.

Barry has also been wasteful in possession, losing the ball an average of 4.8 times per game and completing just 33.33 per cent of his dribbles, leaving Moyes with a problem up front that arguably needs investment.
