‘Incredible’ – David Moyes pitches Jack Grealish to Thomas Tuchel after Everton impact
David Moyes has backed up Jack Grealish’s claim to return to the England squad off the back of his revival at Everton.
Grealish joined Everton on loan from Man City in the summer has been reborn under the Scot at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this term after being increasingly frozen out under Pep Guardiola.
The 30-year-old has a goal and four assists in 10 Premier League appearances for the Toffees and has been looking something close to full strength again.
But again Thomas Tuchel has opted not to bring Grealish back into the Three Lions fold, having lost his place under predecessor Gareth Southgate.

David Moyes believes Jack Grealish is on cusp of England return
During an interview with Jeff Stelling and Adrian Durham live on talkSPORT the Everton manager espoused the huge positives Grealish has offered since heading to Merseyside, and backed him for further call-ups.
Moyes said: “Jack’s been great, he’s an incredible character. Loves his football. Watches, listens, which is great because a lot of the young players don’t do so much, but Jack’s someone who loves his football.
“Thomas Tuchel‘s got a really difficult job with the quality of players he’s got to select from for the England squad, but Jack wouldn’t let anybody down because doesn’t give the ball away, he’s very good at keeping the ball and playing and making goals.
“So I think he’ll be close to the England squad. Whether he fully gets there it’s not for me to make that decision.”
Jarrad Branthwaite a warning sign for Grealish
Grealish hasn’t featured for the national team this calendar year but certainly looks worthy of consideration ahead of the World Cup.
Moyes is right that his numbers could improve still, and he faces a crowded house in terms of English options in wide attacking roles.
Unfortunately, outside of long-term goalkeeping number one Jordan Pickford, it appears the England set up doesn’t view Everton as the right proving ground for international football.
Prior to his injury absence this term Jarrad Branthwaite has starred for Everton but routinely been overlooked for England.
Grealish has the benefit of previously being well-established at that level, but the Toffees hesitancy isn’t an encouraging sigh for him as things stand.
