Everton could beat Manchester United to the jump amid Conor Gallagher loan update

Everton could return their interest in Conor Gallagher ahead of the winter window.

Gallagher was linked to Everton over the summer, but a move away from Atletico Madrid never came to pass in the end.

The Toffees looked elsewhere as Everton signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, Merlin Rohl from Freiburg and Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo.

That hasn’t stopped David Moyes’ side from being linked to midfield targets ready for January, with Kobbie Mainoo linked to Everton from Manchester United.

The Merseyside outfit could now look to battle the Red Devils for the signing of Gallagher, but they will have to be quick if they want to.

Manchester United want Conor Gallagher on loan

Sean Dyche wanted Gallagher at Everton in 2024 before the Englishman ultimately completed his switch to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has proven to be a success in the Spanish capital, but has started to fall down the pecking order under Diego Simeone.

The ex-Crystal Palace loanee has made just two league starts this campaign and could potentially be on the move in January.

Manchester United have shown interest, with The Mail Online reporting that a loan deal for Gallagher could be on the cards in the winter.

A potential £45million permament move could then be possible in the summer, but Everton could seriously benefit from stepping in.

Everton could give Gallagher exactly what he wants

The Toffees may not have the same ambition as Man United right now, but they can arguably offer a better deal to the Atleti man.

Gallagher wants to pick up his minutes across the second half of the season, with a view to making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

A seat on the plane to America could rest on a string of regular gametime, with the Premier League potentially giving him the best opportunity of being recognised by Thomas Tuchel.

At Everton, he would almost be guaranteed to start most weeks and would be ideal in the engine room alongside the likes of James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Dewsbury-Hall.

Moyes and Co. would be wise to step in ahead of the Red Devils and beat them to the punch to land a temporary deal for the midfielder.
