Jordan Pickford has already revealed what he thinks of Everton target Kobbie Mainoo

Jordan Pickford could welcome England teammate Kobbie Mainoo to Everton in the near future.

Mainoo enjoyed a sensational rise to stardom at Manchester United, but he does not seem to fit in Ruben Amorim‘s plans at the moment.

Everton are believed to be among the suitors for Mainoo if the Red Devils decide to sanction an exit in the winter transfer window.

Pickford would love to see the 20-year-old at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, judging from his previous comments on the Old Trafford midfielder.

What did Jordan Pickford say about Everton target Kobbie Mainoo

Everton face a battle to sign Mainoo, with multiple clubs interested in the young maestro, if Amorim allows him to leave.

Mainoo impressed in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final, where Pickford starred between the sticks as the Three Lions nearly brought it home.

The Blues goalkeeper would likely endorse a move to the Toffees for the young star, as his comments in an interview before that tournament were very complimentary.

Speaking to talkSPORT in March 2024, he said: “I think he made his full debut against us at Goodison Park. I remember the manager mentioning that they had the young lad playing centre‑midfield.

“I remember I knew already that he was a top player, from what I had heard of. He has shone for Man United this season and he has kept his spot. I have only trained with him for a day, but in his performances for Man United, he just looks so calm on the ball and he plays with such maturity.”

Pickford could help Mainoo settle at Everton

Mainoo has been a part of United’s system since he was seven years old, so he would likely need to adapt to the way things are on Merseyside.

Pickford could help him with the adaptation process, as the two are a lot more familiar with each other since those comments were made.

The Toffees star has been in goal for nine of Mainoo’s 10 caps for his country, so he would have someone to lean on in the beginning, if he found things tough in a new environment.

Whether United let their most promising academy starlet in years leave remains to be seen, but if they do, the Blues should be at the front of the queue, and do everything they can to bring him to L3.
