David Moyes set for James Ward-Prowse reunion at Everton with transfer guarantee
West Ham United are willing to loan James Ward-Prowse to Everton with an obligation to buy in the winter transfer window.
The 31-year-old has been surplus to requirements at the Hammers since Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment, making a January exit a certainty.
David Moyes wants to reunite with Ward-Prowse, and the Toffees look like the perfect destination for him to revive his career after previously starring for the Irons under the Scottish manager.
The Friedkin Group realise it’ll take time at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to get the Merseyside outfit competing further up the Premier League table, but they’re ready to back the 62-year-old head coach.

Everton want loan transfer with option for James Ward-Prowse
Talks have taken place regarding a move for Ward-Prowse, with the Toffees looking for a loan deal with an option to buy, according to a West Ham transfer source.
However, the Hammers want a sale or a guarantee of money at the end of a temporary move, which isn’t under consideration at the Hill Dickinson Stadium right now.
It’s been claimed that unless the Blues change their stance on the midfielder’s transfer in January, Southampton look set to be the favourites for his signature, despite the Englishman wanting a reunion with Moyes.
Speaking to Hammers News on 17 November, the source said: “There have been early talks, and Everton want to do the deal as a loan at first and see how it works out. Moyes wants a loan with option, similar to what he did with Kalvin Phillips at West Ham.”

The source added: “West Ham want the money or the guarantee of money at the end of any deal, and so unless Everton change their stance slightly, it actually makes Southampton favourites despite being in the Championship.
“One thing is for certain, the player will be leaving in January. A reunion with Moyes does appeal to him, but a return home to Southampton is also a big factor.”
James Ward-Prowse record under David Moyes
It isn’t surprising to see Moyes wanting Ward-Prowse at his disposal, given the midfielder’s exceptional performance during his managerial tenure at West Ham.
While Everton fans will be wary of the former Saints star’s recent performances in the Premier League, it looks like the Scottish manager is confident about bringing the best out of him.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes played |
| 51 | 7 | 11 | 4022 |
The Hammers signed the midfielder for £30million under Moyes in 2023, and the Englishman went on to make 37 appearances in his debut season at the London Stadium, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.
Ward-Prowse also recorded four assists in the Europa League for the Irons in the 2023-24 campaign, and the Scottish manager will hope for more of the same if the Merseyside outfit can get him in January.
