James Garner’s importance recognised by latest Everton reveal
James Garner’s performances for Everton this season have warranted far more attention.
Iliman Ndiaye often gets his plaudits for Everton, and rightfully so when taking into account the magic he can produce out of nothing.
However, David Moyes has several other players who offer plenty to the team, but often fail to get he recognition they deserve.
Garner is certainly one of them, and his importance on Merseyside has been amplified by the latest stat reveal that showcases why he is in the team.

Everton have a progressive monster with James Garner
Jack Grealish’s summer arrival on loan from Man City has had an impact, but Everton have been a lot more forward-thinking in their play this season.
As a result of Thierno Barry and Beto’s struggles in front of goal, very rarely has it come to anything, but the attacking intent is there.
Surprisingly, Garner has played a crucial role in that, and it all comes down to his desire to get the ball moving forward.
Out of all of Everton‘s midfield options, Garner is by far the most progressive, with around 11 forward passes completed per 90.
Around 80 per cent of those attempted forward passes are successful, which is again among the highest in the top flight.
It’s a stat that sees him alongside the likes of Sandro Tonali and Moises Caicedo, who are two of the best-performing midfielders in the Premier League this season.
James Garner’s contract situation needs to be addressed
As things stand, Garner will leave Everton at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The Englishman can negotiate a free transfer abroad in January, putting further pressure on the Toffees to tie him down to a new deal.

Not only do his performances warrant it, but Moyes has utilised his versatility several times already this season.
Taking everything into account, it has to be a priority for Everton in the next few weeks, with several clubs almost certainly going to be monitoring any further developments.
