Everton can’t afford Troy Parrott snub after latest January transfer stance
Everton are an obvious link as AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott continues to be associated with an exit in the winter transfer window.
Thierno Barry and Beto’s struggles at the Hill Dickinson Stadium mean the Toffees are in desperate need of a new number nine in January.
The likes of Ivan Toney, Joshua Zirkzee and Gabriel Jesus are reportedly on David Moyes’ wishlist, but it remains to be seen whether the Blues will actually go through with a deal for a new striker in the coming weeks.
With Parrot’s heroic performances for his country in the November World Cup qualifiers, it isn’t surprising to see his name in tandem with other Premier League clubs, although all may not be what it seems.

Troy Parrott transfer to Everton may not be on cards
While speculation around Parrott’s future grows, the Toffees would prefer not to sign a new striker in January, according to Liverpool Echo.
The news outlet reports on 19 November that if Barry and Beto start turning the tide at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the need for an immediate addition up front may subside for now.
It’s been claimed that next summer presents a better opportunity for the Blues to reinforce their number nine position.
While the Merseyside outfit are willing to do business in the winter transfer window, that could potentially depend on several things.
Moyes continues to consider playing Iliman Ndiaye as his striker, but is reluctant to play him out of position.
Even if Barry and Beto somehow magically start scoring goals for the Scottish manager in the upcoming matches, a striker should be a priority for them if they dip into the market.
David Moyes risks losing out on Troy Parrott next summer
While Moyes would have a reliable goalscorer in Toney if the Merseysiders end up signing him, the deal may be beyond their reach due to the financial implications.
Everton undoubtedly know they lack quality up front, and their decision to delay a deal for someone like Parrott seems unwise.
| Player | Matches played | Goals scored |
| Iliman Ndiaye | 13 | 4 |
| Beto | 13 | 2 |
| Idrissa Gueye | 11 | 2 |
| Michael Keane | 13 | 2 |
It wouldn’t be surprising to see top teams around Europe compete for the 23-year-old centre-forward’s signature if he continues his form into the 2026 World Cup with the Republic of Ireland.
The Toffees certainly risk missing out on the former Tottenham attacker next summer, and it would probably make sense to pursue his signing in January.
