James Tarkowski and James Garner have done something no other Everton player has managed this season

James Tarkowski and James Garner are leading the way at Everton this season.

Tarkowski has been a force at the back for David Moyes‘ side, while Garner’s Everton form has earned shouts for an England call-up.

The duo have featured in all 11 Premier League matches that the Toffees have played this season, not missing a single minute, according to a new reveal from Transfermarkt on 19 November.

They are the only Blues stars to do so, proving their importance to the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit.

Why are James Tarkowski and James Garner the only Everton players not to miss a minute?

In Tarkowski‘s case, it is pretty simple, he is the most experienced member of the backline, and Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury has meant that he has been needed more than ever.

Meanwhile, for Garner, he has stepped up his level this season, to become a key player for Moyes’ side, in multiple positions.

While the former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest ace is primarily a central midfielder, he has also stepped in at left-back when necessary.

What has Moyes said about the remarkable Everton duo?

Moyes has been resolute in his praise for Tarkowski, with a focus on his leadership abilities in particular.

The Scotsman sees the 32-year-old as a key part of his team, given his experience and his ability to stabilise the defence.

Speaking in March 2025, he said: “He’s gone to show maybe without one or two centre-halves in the league, he’s as good as anybody…

“I have to say, congratulate Tarky because he’s doing a great job, and I have to say, he’s proven behind-the-scenes to be a good leader, as well.”

Meanwhile, Moyes has been adamant that Garner deserves to be in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 10 November, he said: “He’s played great in midfield and he’s played full-back for me as well. I’ve said a couple of times recently he’s probably getting closer to getting talked about for England because of his performances.

“By the way, England have got so many good players to select from, so for anyone to select a team [is difficult]. I’ve been listening to discussions all week about (Phil) Foden and (Jude) Bellingham, etc., but all I’m saying is Jimmy is one of the group of young English midfield players who maybe in the future has a chance of getting a call-up.

“He’s done a brilliant job for us, Jimmy, and he’s playing very well.”

Whether the Scotsman gets his wish or not, remains to be seen, but if Garner keeps up the level that he is currently at, it should bode well for the Toffees.

He may well end up missing out on the Three Lions squad, and while Moyes will be dismayed, it would give him the summer off, ready to go again next season.
