Jeff Stelling reacts instantly to what he’s told about Everton transfer hope for January – ‘Wow’
Jeff Stelling believes Everton will have limited chances to sign a striker they crave during the winter transfer window.
Everton triumphed in a 2-0 home victory over Fulham before the Premier League paused for the November international break.
David Moyes will be looking to make a statement in Everton’s upcoming match against Manchester United as the Toffees continue to go from strength to strength in the Premier League.
However, their squad is still on the thin side, and Everton’s hierarchy will want to arm Moyes with reinforcements in January.

Everton have minimal chance to secure a striker this winter
Everton want to reinforce their attack this winter and are looking at both Gabriel Jesus and Joshua Zirkzee as options.
The Toffees have lacked goals this season:
- Everton have scored 12 goals, the sixth-fewest in the Premier League
- The Toffees have created 23 big chances
- They have missed 16 big chances
As a result, it’s not difficult to see why the club wants to sign a capable striker this January.
But their search is set to take a turn for the worse, as speaking on talkSPORT on 20 November, Stelling said he believes strikers are rare to find during the winter.
“Maybe in January, Leeds will have money to solve their striker problems, just like Everton will want to do,” Gabby Agbonlahor said.
To which Stelling replied: “Yeah. They’re hard to find at the best of time, but in January, wow. They’re like gold dust.”
All Everton can do is line up some potential targets early on, lodge bids and hope that a new striker is recruited for Moyes.
Everton can’t continue with Thierno Barry and Beto
Everton strikers Thierno Barry and Beto have been underwhelming to say the least.
The two have a combined one goal in the Premier League this season, thanks to Beto, who scored in Everton’s 3-2 win over Wolves back in August.
The fact that Michael Keane has netted more goals from centre-back this season demonstrates just how dire the issue is.
Indeed, the Toffees are in desperate need of goals this season and are ironically being hindered by their two goalscorers.
As a result, there is a strong likelihood that Everton’s season will depend on whether a striker is signed over the winter transfer window.
