Ruben Amorim namedrops the two Everton players who can give Man United nightmares

Everton travel to Manchester United for a Premier League fixture on Monday Night Football, with David Moyes desperate to get one over his former club.

It’s been almost 12 years since the Toffees last won at Old Trafford, after Bryan Oviedo’s winner condemned Moyes to a disappointing defeat in December 2014.

The Scotsman will now want to mastermind a victory over Ruben Amorim following Everton’s 2-0 win over Fulham before the international break.

Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane were the scorers at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on that day, but it’s two other players who have stolen the headlines this season.

Ruben Amorim wowed by Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye

Everton’s attacking threat has been carried by Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye in 2025/26, with the duo combining for 10 Premier League goals.

Grealish, who joined Everton from Manchester City in the summer, is enjoying his football on Merseyside, while Ndiaye’s form has caught the interest of several Premier League clubs.

Ahead of their trip to the Theatre of Dreams on Monday, United boss Ruben Amorim name-dropped the Toffees duo when discussing the fixture.

“They [Everton] are really compact. You cannot see the results, you need to see the games, to understand that 3-0 against Tottenham [shakes head]. If you see the game, it’s set-pieces,” Amorim said in his pre-match press conference.

“I think [Jack] Grealish is doing really well. He can push that team, can give weight to that team. [Iliman] Ndiaye is an amazing player.”

Amorim is clearly wary of the threat Grealish and Ndiaye pose on the counterattack, and that will be key to Everton’s chances of winning.

Ndiaye vs Luke Shaw

As Man United look to dictate proceedings, Moyes will deploy a mid block and focus on breaking fast to catch his opponents out.

That is where Ndiaye’s battle against Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu could be a defining match-up that decides the outcome of the game.

Premier League players most dribbles 2025/26
Mohammed Kudus – 34
Jeremy Doku – 33
Iliman Ndiaye – 26
Yankuba Minteh – 26
Antoine Semenyo – 20

The Senegalese forward is known for his frightening turn of pace and ball control, having ranked third in the Premier League for most dribbles in 2025/26 so far.

On the flip side, Shaw has watched his pace decline in recent years due to injuries and doesn’t possess the speed he once had, hence why a moment of Ndiaye’s brilliance holds the key for Everton.
