David Moyes forced into Everton rethink as Richarlison transfer reality emerges

David Moyes may have to change his stance on signing Tottenham striker Richarlison at Everton in the winter transfer window.

BBC journalist Giulia Bould believes Beto and Thierno Barry’s struggles at the Hill Dickinson Stadium could potentially force the Scottish manager to look at the Brazil international.

Moyes dismissed rumours on Richarlison’s return at the end of last season, but it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will now make an approach for him.

With the 28-year-old starting just six Premier League matches this season despite Dominic Solanke’s injury, it will be interesting to see how his situation unfolds.

Tottenham departure not on cards amid Everton links to Richarlison

There have been no suggestions that Tottenham are willing to let Richarlison leave in January, Bould says.

The journalist feels the Brazil international would be a good loan signing for the Toffees, but there’s no indication that it will happen at the Hill Dickinson Stadium anytime soon.

It remains to be seen what the Blues will do in the winter transfer window as they’re arguably in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer.

Bould wrote in BBC Sport on 21 November: “The manager’s strikeforce of Beto and Barry have scored just one goal between them so far this campaign in the Premier League, so it might be time for Moyes to think again.”

The journalist added: “The Blues boss has already stated he will look at strengthening his squad in January, but he also warned it is a notoriously difficult window to operate in, with prices often hiked up.

“A loan could be a good fit for Everton if Spurs were open to it. The Brazil international has made just six league starts this term, but there is no suggestion right now that they would be willing to let the 28-year-old go.”

Friedkin Group to anger fans with January transfer stance at Hill Dickinson Stadium

The Friedkin Group (TFG) would prefer waiting until next summer to sign a new striker for Moyes, despite the evident need for reinforcements up top.

Everton have scored just 12 goals in the Premier League this season, which is fewer than 18th-placed West Ham United.

Beto and Barry have failed to cement their place in the starting lineup at the Merseyside outfit as the Scottish manager looks for his first-choice number nine.

If a new striker doesn’t arrive in January, fans in L4 will undoubtedly be miffed about TFG’s plans for the Toffees since taking over.
