Everton fans start brilliant Old Trafford chant after achieving decade-long first over Liverpool

Everton find themselves above Liverpool in the Premier League table at this stage of a season for the first time in a decade.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s goal just before the hour mark earned Everton a famous victory at Old Trafford – their first there since 2013.

Everton were down to 10 men at that stage after Idrissa Gueye’s stupid sending off for slapping teammate Michael Keane.

Everton superbly held on to beat Man United 1-0, becoming the first side in Premier League history to win at Old Trafford with 10 men.

David Moyes was not all smiles, but this was his first win as a visiting boss at the Theatre of Dreams on what was a magical night for the Toffees.

Everton pile more misery on Arne Slot and Liverpool

Everton’s victory lifted them up to 11th place in the Premier League, now above 12th-placed Liverpool on goal difference.

As per Tony Scott on X, it is the first time Everton have been above Liverpool 12 games into a season since 2015.

And the Everton fans inside Old Trafford were certainly in party mode at full-time on what was a rare victory at that ground.

The away section could be heard singing “we’re looking down on the red*****”, revelling in what has been a good season to date for their side and a dreadful campaign for Liverpool.

The aim for Everton now, of course, is to stay above Liverpool for as long as possible. On the basis of what is unfolding at Anfield, that is entirely plausible.

David Moyes picks up first ever away win at Old Trafford

Moyes’ Everton team selection raised some eyebrows, and the Scotsman’s hand was forced early on when Seamus Coleman limped off, followed by Gueye’s red card.

The Scotsman was visibly delighted at full-time – rightly so – with Moyes winning at Old Trafford as a visiting boss for the first time in 17 attempts.

Furthermore, 13 of those visits have ended in defeat. That is not even to mention Moyes’ disappointing spell as Man United boss, which was a real low point in his career.

More importantly, Moyes’ Everton are now looking up the Premier League table and will be confident of challenging for a top-half finish – and ideally finishing above a down-and-out Liverpool.
