Thierno Barry silences Everton doubters as he sets incredible Premier League record vs Man United
Everton fans should keep faith in Thierno Barry a little while longer after his performance against Manchester United.
Everton’s historic 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday was bizarre.
Idrissa Gueye saw red against United 13 minutes into the game following an altercation with teammate Michael Keane.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall fired Everton in front 15 minutes later before the Toffees put in a defensive performance of a lifetime to secure all three points at Old Trafford.
While Gueye and Dewsbury-Hall claimed the spotlight on the night, Barry was a crucial but underrated part of Everton’s victory.

Theirno Barry was a brick wall for Everton
Everton completed a £27million deal to sign Barry over the summer from La Liga side Villarreal.
However, it was not long before Barry and Beto were coined Everton’s terrible twins, having netted a combined one goal between them.
On his part, the 23-year-old has failed to score a single goal in the Premier League this season.
But against the Red Devils he showed signs that there’s still a player in there.
Barry won 14 aerial duels against Man United on Monday, which is the most by any Premier League player this season.
Despite not netting at Old Trafford, his all-round game was impressive:
- Barry completed 100 per cent of his dribbles
- He took 37 touches in 81 minutes played
- Only three of his touches were unsuccessful
Furthermore, he also made three recoveries and two clearances in what was a fabulous game from the striker, according to Sofascore.

Barry has already silenced some doubters and could become a great signing for the Toffees if his game continues to flourish at the top level.

Everton fans must be patient
It is understandable why Everton fans were so quick to write Barry off. Failing to score in 12 league appearances is unacceptable for a top-level striker.
However, what most seemed to have forgotten is this is the 23-year-old’s first season in England and the Premier League.
Expecting a player who had hardly stepped foot in England to adjust to the pace of English football upon his arrival was a little over ambitious.
It is clear that Barry is a player who needs time. But given his physical quality, there is no doubt that he could be incredible during his stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
