Friedkins close to Joshua Zirkzee agreement with Manchester United after Everton win

Joshua Zirkzee is edging closer to leaving Manchester United despite starting against Everton on Monday.

Everton secured a 1-0 win over Manchester United last time around as David Moyes secured revenge over his former club at Old Trafford.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall netted the winner, but not after Idrissa Gueye had been sent off for Everton after an altercation with Michael Keane.

Being down to 10 men for 77 minutes meant the Toffees had to defend, but Everton still secured a victory over Man United and kept a clean sheet.

Zirkzee started and completed 90 minutes in M16, but after a general lack of impact, could be set to link up with the Friedkin Group this winter.

Everton have shown interest in Zirkzee in recent weeks and months as the Merseyside outfit go in search of a new striker option.

The Netherlands international has been linked to the Toffees, with his time at Manchester United looking likely to be at an end.

Dan Friedkin and Co. have showcased an interest in the 24-year-old, but it doesn’t appear that he will be moving from the Red Devils to the Blues.

Gazzetta Dello Sport reported on 26 November that Zirkzee has said yes to a switch to Roma after a loan-to-buy offer was tabled at Old Trafford.

The Friedkin Group also own the Serie A outfit and could make the striker a permanent member at the Olympico if they qualify for the Champions League this season.

Everton to miss out on Zirkzee to Roma

The US-based investors have created little to no link between Everton and Roma since being introduced on Merseyside.

Besides playing in a pre-season friendly in L4, the two sides owned by the Friedkins have been kept separate despite the world of multi-club groups in football.

That looks likely to continue with Zirkzee destined to play for Roma, despite the need for a striker being apparent at the Hill Dickinson.

The Toffees faithful will be hopeful that other targets are already in the pipeline, with one of their apparent targets set to move elsewhere.
