Everton fans to witness three-year first vs Newcastle, but it may not be a good thing
Everton play host to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle this weekend.
Off the back of Everton’s 1-0 win away to Man United, the Toffees are back on home soil on Saturday to take on the Magpies.
Newcastle are yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season, while Everton have lost just once at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That omen certainly plays into their favour, though, there is another that may indicate what to expect this weekend.

Everton are three points above Newcastle
The Toffees have picked up 18 points from their 12 fixtures so far this season, despite a somewhat ropey start to the campaign.
In comparison, Newcastle have 15 points, though 12 of them have been accumulated in games played at St James Park.
Saturday’s meeting between these two sides will be the frist time that the Toffees have been above Newcastle in the table since 2022, though the clash on that occasion finished in defeat.
In fact, Everton are yet to beat Newcastle when they have been above them at the time of the game.

Everton are unbeaten in their last four against the Magpies, with Carlos Alcaraz scoring the winner at St James’ Park earlier this year.

Jack Grealish will be key vs Newcastle
Between Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish, Everton have the quality to pose a lot of threat against Newcastle this weekend.
The former is on four goals for the season, while the latter has a tendency to perform at the top of his game against the North-East outfit.
Grealish has four assists against Newcastle, which is the most he has against any club in England throughout his career, with three Englishmen chasing his fifth assist of the current campaign.
The 30-year-old has only lost to Newcastle once in his career, despite having faced off against them on eight separate occasions.
With that said, the only defeat was in the Carabao Cup back in the 2023-24 season, with Grealish looking to maintain his unbeaten Premier League record against the Magpies.
