Jeff Stelling expects Everton to do something vs Newcastle not seen since peak Sean Dyche

Everton are flying in the Premier League right now and have been tipped to achieve a feat not seen since two seasons ago.

On Monday evening, Everton secured a shock 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scoring the only goal of the contest.

The Toffees had to play the majority of the game with just 10 men, after Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off for slapping teammate Michael Keane in the face.

Gueye quickly apologised for the incident, but is now suspended and will miss Everton’s next three games, starting against Newcastle.

Jeff Stelling tips Everton to beat Newcastle

Everton face Newcastle United on Saturday at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, in what is expected to be a tight contest between two closely-matched teams.

David Moyes’ side sit 11th in the Premier League after their victory over Man United, with the Magpies three places further back.

If Newcastle take all three points from their trip to Merseyside, then they will go above Everton in the table on goal difference.

However, speaking on his talkSPORT predictions show, presenter Jeff Stelling backed the Toffees to get the job done.

Stelling predicted that Everton would keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton on verge of ending 18-month streak

Before Moyes’ side clinched a 1-0 victory over Man United, they beat Fulham 2-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If Stelling’s prediction were to come true, it would be the first time since April 2024 that Everton have won three games on the bounce without conceding a single goal.

They last achieved the feat during the glory days of the Sean Dyche era, beating Nottingham Forest and Liverpool 2-0 before securing a 1-0 victory over Brentford.

Those results played a crucial role in firing Everton away from the relegation zone that season, and they eventually finished 15th despite being deducted six points midway through the campaign.
