Tony Bellew and James Tarkowski react as Everton favourite Jarrad Branthwaite shares amazing news

Tony Bellew and James Tarkowski were among those to send message of goodwill after Everton favourite Jarrad Branthwaite shared some amazing news off the field.

Branthwaite has endured a frustrating time of things for Everton, having yet to kick a ball this season due to injury.

England international Branthwaite sustained an injury in pre-season and has not played since, with the defender having suffered a setback last month.

Branthwaite is due to return in the early part of 2026, and it appears he is making the most of his time off the field if his social media activity is anything to go by.

Jarrad Branthwaite gets engaged

Branthwaite’s injury record is a concern for Everton, but the important thing is he fully recovers from this latest setback.

The 23-year-old is certainly not letting the injury problems get in the way, with his engagement to Isla Armstrong being announced via Instagram on Sunday.

Plenty of current and former Everton players commented on the post, including central-defensive partner Tarkowski, who wrote: “Love it, Jazza. Congratulations.”

James Garner wrote: “Congrats brother”, while Jake O’Brien said: “Congrats to you both.”

Youssef Chermiti, now at Rangers, posted: “Congrats bro.”

Celebrity Everton fan Bellew, meanwhile, posted two clapping hands and a blue love heart.

When is Jarrad Branthwaite due back for Everton?

Branthwaite’s most recent update, of sorts, came a little over a week ago when posting an image of himself wearing compression trousers.

That suggests he is not yet close to returning to the grass at Finch Farm.

As per Premier Injuries, as of November 28, Branthwaite’s most likely return date for Everton is 31 January against Brighton and Hove Albion.

That seems a reasonable timeframe, effectively giving Branthwaite effectively eight weeks to get back to training, build up his fitness and then force his way back into David Moyes’ plans.

As disappointing as it has been to see Branthwaite out for so long, the good news is that Everton are flying without him.
