David Moyes at risk of derailing Everton’s entire season if alarming issue isn’t sorted

Everton have continued to have an issue with discipline in the Premier League this season.

The Toffees have already seen multiple players suspended due to them hitting the five yellow card threshold for this season.

This includes Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who served a one-match ban after the West Ham draw.

However, since then, this situation hasn’t improved, with Idrissa Gueye even receiving a red card against Manchester United for slapping Michael Keane.

Now, David Moyes has to address this growing issue, or it could come back to haunt the Toffees.

Everton fourth-highest for yellow cards received this season in the Premier League

According to Fotmob on 9 December, Everton have received 33 yellow cards this Premier League season, the fourth-highest in the division.

Only Tottenham, Bournemouth and Brighton are higher in the list, in what is no doubt an alarming stat.

Everton already have numerous players who are close to a suspension, and if this trend continues, the Toffees could suffer with his issue throughout the season.

In the Premier League, if a player hits two yellow cards before match day 33, they receive a two-match ban, and if they hit 15 before the end of the season, they will be banned for three games.

As it stands, there are multiple players who could hit any of these thresholds, which could completely derail their season.

Everton are already short on quality in depth, and a suspension could ensure that the Toffees slip down the Premier League table due to a lack of quality replacements.

Therefore, Moyes simply must put an end to this before it comes back to haunt the Merseyside club.

Where are Everton predicted to finish this season?

According to Opta on 9 December, Everton are expected to finish 10th, just outside the European places.

However, they do have an outside chance of reaching a European competition this season.

Their odds of reaching the Champions League are 4.23 per cent, while the chances of Europa League qualification are 4.18 per cent.

However, it remains to be seen if the Toffees can manage to accomplish this incredible feat.
