David Moyes cannot be allowed to make awful Harrison Armstrong decision, it could ruin his development

Harrison Armstrong has admitted that the future of his loan at Preston is out of his hands as he continues to impress in the Championship.

Everton loaned Armstrong out at the end of the summer window after impressing in pre-season and in the Carabao Cup.

Since then, the midfielder has continued to blossom, with the 18-year-old scoring for Preston on the weekend as they look to finally reach the Premier League.

However, his future at Preston is uncertain, with Everton holding the ability to recall the youngster, something that David Moyes has not ruled out.

David Moyes should not recall Harrison Armstrong in January

On 8 December, the Lancashire Post published quotes from Armstrong where he discussed his future at Preston.

He said: “Well, I think it’s out of my hands. Whatever decision is made, I just hope it’s the best for my development.

I’d love to stay here and contribute to a season. Hopefully, we can get in and amongst the play-offs but like I said, I’m just leaving it to the hands of the people who control it and just getting on with my football.”

However, this simply should not be in discussion, and Everton should allow the midfielder’s loan to run its course.

Armstrong is doing brilliantly at Preston and could have a promotion on his CV at the end of the season.

If he is recalled, it is extremely likely that the youngster will sit on the bench for the majority of Everton’s matches, while occasionally appearing as a substitute.

This would no doubt damage his development, and would be a baffling choice by Moyes.

The Scotsman needs to allow him to continue to play regularly and assess his potential place in Everton’s first team next season.

What are Armstrong’s stats for Preston?

According to Sofascore on 9 December, Armstrong has been excellent for Preston to date.

So far, he has been winning 61 per cent of his duels, while also recovering the ball 3.02 per game.

These stats are no doubt promising, especially given the fact that the midfielder is just 18 years old.

Hopefully, whether Everton recall the youngster or not, he can continue this form throughout the season.
