England call-up Everton starlet in bid to steal him away from rival nation

Everton youngster William Apter is attracting keen interest from England.

The Toffees have some excellent young talents coming through their ranks, with Harrison Armstrong shining at Preston being one of the best.

Francis Okoronkwo is also doing well at Lincoln City as the Merseyside outfit continue to utilise the loan market to their advantage.

David Moyes is yet to truly utilise young talent since his return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the likes of Adam Aznou struggling for Everton minutes.

Apter is far from making a first-team impression, but is still catching the eye on the international stage at this early stage.

That has been recognised with an England under-15s call-up for upcoming clashes against Spain, Italy and Iceland at St. George’s Park.

Alan Nixon has reported via his Patreon on 14 December that the Three Lions want to claim the Everton youngster ahead of Scotland.

Apter’s brothers, Rob and Matt, have already pledged their allegiance to the Tartan Army at different age levels, with Rob making four appearances for the under-21s in 2024.

William was born in Liverpool and therefore can play for England, but is also able to feature for Scotland through his father.

Everton hopeful of bright future with Apter

To have two sides heading to the 2026 World Cup show keen interest in landing the allegiance of a young talent screams volumes.

Apter has seemingly struck a chord with England and Scotland, so it will be interesting to see what selection he makes in the future.

The Scots will arguably offer more game time and the chance of being a true star player for the nation, while England has an obviously higher potential ceiling than their bordering rivals.

Apter has a family connection to the Tartan Army, so there is no doubt that he has a big choice to make for himself and those who surround him on Merseyside.
