Everton could land ‘surprise’ £45m Samu Omorodion transfer as Porto set new demands

Everton could make a January swoop to sign Porto star Samu Omorodion.

Samu has emerged as an Everton target ahead of the winter window as the Toffees’ woes continue in the number nine position.

David Moyes has faced issues with both Beto and Thierno Barry at Everton this season, with just two Premier League goals between the pair.

The Blues seem keen to rectify that in January, with Evan Ferguson also being linked with Everton in recent weeks.

Samu could prove to be the dream signing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with demands now in place over a potential winter deal.

Porto to set high demands for Samu Omorodion

Gabriel Jesus may join Everton in January, as a wide range of different forward targets continue to be assessed on Merseyside.

There may be no better option out there than the Porto star after what has been a stellar two seasons since his move to Estadio do Dragao in 2024.

The Spaniard has scored 40 in 65 games for the Portuguese giants, so he may see the Premier League as the next step up.

Samu’s goalscoring record will make him a tough sell for Porto, who, former Everton scout Bryan King believes, will be difficult for the Toffees to land in January.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “Interesting player. What Everton has to do is build up their squad, because their squad is quite thin when you look at it.

They certainly need bodies for the next 18 or 19 matches, especially with the FA Cup as well.

To pick up young talent like Samu won’t be cheap if he’s coming from Porto, that’s for sure.

I’d be surprised if Porto would let him go at this stage.

If they did, they’re going to be looking to be demanding at least £25m and another £10m or £20m on top once he’s played a certain number of Premier League games, on top of a sell-on clause.

Samu could transform Everton

The transfer fee may be sizable, but for a young player with European goalscoring pedigree, that could prove to be a bargain.

Samu has proven he can cut it at Porto and could prove the be the striker that Everton have needed ever since Romelu Lukaku moved on.

His signing may prove to be bad news for Beto, but alongside Barry the Spaniard could prove to be the long-term number nine for the Blues.
