Beto to have one eye over his shoulder amid £45m transfer reveal at Everton

Beto could be on his way out of Everton in January.

Thierno Barry has become a regular starter for Everton and kick-started his form in front of goal with a strike against Nottingham Forest.

David Moyes appears to be backing the Frenchman to be successful after Barry joined Everton for big money from Villarreal over the summer.

That may not reflect well on Beto, who could be shut out at Everton, especially with the winter market set to open at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Beto may face an uncertain future anyway, a situation that could worsen if another forward option comes in during January.

Everton could replace Beto with Samu Omorodion

Samu Omorodion has emerged as a target for Everton with just weeks remaining until the transfer window opens on Merseyside.

The Porto striker is highly sought after due to his goalscoring exploits in Portugal after a 2024 switch from Atletico Madrid.

The Toffees are one of the interested parties in the Spain international, with a January move potentially on the cards in the coming weeks.

That could be possible after former Everton scout Bryan King revealed to Goodison News that the Portuguese giants could demand upwards of £45million.

He said: “To pick up young talent like Samu won’t be cheap if he’s coming from Porto, that’s for sure.

They’re going to be looking to be demanding at least £25m and another £10m or £20m on top once he’s played a certain number of Premier League games, on top of a sell-on clause.

That may be seen as a sizable fee for the Blues, but for a player of Samu’s standards, it could prove to be a massive bargain at this stage.

If the Toffees were to swoop in at Estadio do Dragao, Beto would likely be facing an imminent departure from the Premier League.

Samu would represent huge step up to Beto

There isn’t much of a comparison between a young striker who has scored 40 goals in two seasons and one who has scored 17 since 2023.

Beto has largely been a flop on Merseyside, besides one purple patch which saw him nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.

The ex-Udinese man wasn’t cheap and really should have a better record at this stage of his Everton career, so swapping him for Samu would be sensational.

The Spaniard has been terrific in Liga Portugal for the last two seasons and could take to life in the Premier League like a duck to water.

For £45m, Moyes could land himself a superb deal, but it could all depend on Porto’s willingness to cooperate and the potential exit of Beto.
