Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form exposes key David Moyes weakness, it continues to cost Everton

Plenty has been said about how poor Everton’s strikers have been so far this season.

To date, Thierno Barry has only netted once since his big summer move, while Beto has also got just the one goal in the Premier League.

Therefore, plenty of criticism has been directed towards the pair, with Everton missing out on multiple points due to their inability to find the net.

As a result, Everton have been linked to numerous strikers ahead of January to try and resolve this issue.

Yet, recent data suggests that Moyes could be at fault for the lack of goals up top.

David Moyes common denominator when it comes to misfiring strikers

One striker who simply could not score for Everton last season was Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Despite previously being a clinical forward, he could only find the net three times, with Moyes overseeing one of these goals.

Yet, since leaving the Everton, Calvert-Lewin has been excellent and netted for the fourth consecutive game on Sunday.

This is not the first time this has happened to Moyes, with Gianluca Scamacca being a flop at West Ham before returning to Italy and to form.

Therefore, evidence suggests that the fault is not with the strikers, but rather Moyes tactics and what he is telling his attackers to do.

It is too much of a coincidence that all of these strikers have suddenly become flops under Moyes’ management after previously being in form.

Therefore, the Scotsman may need to refine his instructions to fix this lasting issue at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

How bad is Everton’s goalscoring record this season?

To date, Everton have only scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season.

This is the joint-third lowest in the division, with only Wolves and Nottingham Forest netting less.

Perhaps more concerning is their lack of goal scorers, with only Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye netting more than twice this campaign.

Therefore, this problem will soon need to be eradicated, or Everton could quickly slip down the league table.
