Everything Mikel Arteta said about David Moyes ahead of Everton vs Arsenal showdown

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta still holds David Moyes in the highest regard as his side prepare to face Everton.

Everton welcome Arsenal to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for an 8pm Saturday night showdown.

It looks set to be a closely fought game, with Everton and Arsenal contesting many memorable Premier League matches down the years.

The Toffees are going to have their work cut out against the league leaders, with Chris Sutton predicting a narrow Arsenal win.

Everton are understandably the underdogs against Arsenal, but Arteta will be wary of the experience and know-how Moyes will bring to the equation.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shares what David Moyes taught him

Arteta knows Everton, and indeed Moyes, extremely well.

Moyes signed the Spanish midfielder for the club in 2005, before going on to spend six-and-a-half years at Goodison Park.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arteta said of Moyes: “Gratitude and admiration.

“I think he taught me the love that he’s got for the game and then the integrity that the game requires at any cost. I think he’s a remarkable man. I think the way he manages the club, the people, his players, it’s outstanding.

“I’m very grateful for everything that he did for me, for Everton as well, but I think in general for English football as well, because he’s been an example of how to behave in good moments and in difficult ones, that is normally when you see how people are, and I think David and that is something extraordinary.”

David Moyes’ record against Arsenal won’t fill Everton fans with confidence

Some managers, for a myriad of possible reasons, have a tendency for success when facing off against certain opposition.

Unfortunately for Everton, Moyes’ record against Arsenal leaves a lot to be desired.

As detailed by Transfermarkt, Moyes has won just six of his 45 games against the Gunners in all competitions, drawing 11 and losing 28 times.

Therefore, the chips don’t appear stacked in Everton’s favour this weekend, but with a raucous Hill Dickinson Stadium crowd behind them, they will be confident of an upset.
