Jack Grealish ineffective, teammate foolish – Everton player ratings vs Arsenal

Jack Grealish did little as Everton lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium hosted Arsenal on 20 December, with the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye unavailable.

Jake O’Brien’s handball led to Viktor Gyokeres scoring from the spot in the 27th minute, with the Toffees struggling for the remainder of the half.

While the Merseyside outfit showed some fight in the second half, it was the visitors who had the best opportunity to score, but Leandro Trossard hit the woodwork.

Everton unable to rely on Jack Grealish magic vs Arsenal

Grealish has been exceptional for Moyes since moving from Manchester City, with many wanting him to sign permanently for the Toffees.

However, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the Blues screaming for a creative outlet, the England international failed to live up to expectations.

It can be argued that the 30-year-old can’t be expected to do everything on his own, but the forward was certainly poor by his own standards.

The loss of Iliman Ndiaye is undoubtedly something that may have an impact on Grealish’s performances in the coming weeks, but fans will hope the Merseyside outfit can turn things around against Burnley on 27 December.

Jake O’Brien lets teammates down at Hill Dickinson Stadium

O’Brien has been reliable at right-back for Moyes, but the Irishman had a moment to forget against Arsenal.

The Toffees had an encouraging start at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the defender’s handball seemed to take the energy out of the team.

There was no need for the 24-year-old to have both his hands up in the air as he challenged Riccardo Calafiori after a corner for the Gunners.

With O’Brien playing out of his natural position for the Merseyside outfit, maybe it’s time they look for a new right-back in the winter transfer window.
