Jamie O’Hara raging after shambolic Everton vs Arsenal incident- ‘Joke’

Jamie O’Hara can’t believe Everton weren’t awarded a penalty against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium hosted Mikel Arteta’s team on 20 December, with Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty giving the Gunners the lead going into the break.

David Moyes has suffered a blow with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s injury, with the Scottish manager trusting a midfield trio of James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam and Carlos Alcaraz in the 1-0 loss.

Thierno Barry went down in the box after a challenge from William Saliba, but after an extensive VAR check, it wasn’t deemed to be serious enough for a spot kick.

O’Hara raged at on-field referee Sam Barrott for his decision as the Toffees

The former Tottenham midfielder raged at the official for making some shambolic decisions at the Hill Dickinson Stadium during a short span of time.

In the 57th minute of the game, Saliba was clearly seen kicking the back of Barry’s leg as he tried to clear the ball, but the referees didn’t think there was enough in it for a penalty.

O’Hara wrote on X on 20 December: “Shambles from the ref too [many] decisions he’s got wrong in five minutes, it’s defo a penalty on Barry. Joke.”

Arsenal were seen as favourites against Moyes’ team, with the North London outfit looking to get back to the top of the table after Manchester City’s victory against West Ham United.

The Toffees looked devoid of creativity at home, and it wasn’t surprising considering Iliman Ndiaye is also absent due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

David Moyes knows what he needs to do in winter transfer window

Moyes should be looking for a new striker at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the number nine position has been prioritised ahead of January.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Everton push for a new forward in the winter transfer window, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling for consistency.

While the former Villarreal striker is still finding his feet in the Premier League, Beto’s performances have dipped since last season.

If the Merseyside outfit have any intention of competing for a European spot in the league, they will arguably need someone up front capable of scoring goals.
