Everton gem faces make-or-break period under David Moyes, fans have made their feelings clear
Tyler Dibling could be entering a watershed moment in his early Everton career.
Everton lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.
David Moyes will feel aggrieved that his side weren’t awarded a penalty when William Saliba kicked the boot of Thierno Barry inside the box, but the officials weren’t interested.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was highly complimentary of his visit to Everton and their new stadium, with his Gunners side maintaining their place at the top of the Premier League.
Tyler Dibling faces crucial Everton period as supporters make their feelings heard
On an evening that Everton fans didn’t have much to cheer about, the decibel meter – as detailed by the Liverpool Echo – gave one of its higher readings when Dibling was introduced to the action.
The 19-year-old forward replaced Dwight McNeil with 75 minutes on the clock, much to the delight of many Everton fans inside the stadium.
A £35million summer signing from Southampton, Dibling wasn’t able to change the game for the Toffees, but the reaction to his introduction from the Everton faithful paints a picture of how desperate supporters are to see him succeed.
Dibling has been tipped to leave Everton on loan in January, and with just 97 minutes of Premier League football under his belt this season, there is certainly logic to that.
However, with star winger Iliman Ndiaye at AFCON with Senegal, Moyes is seriously short of options out wide.
Dibling should be afforded starting opportunity in place of Dwight McNeil
Jack Grealish has cemented his starting position on Everton’s left flank this season, but with Ndiaye now out of the picture for a few weeks, there is a vacancy on the right.
McNeil got the nod against Arsenal, but the 26-year-old put in a poor display, in what was a reflection of his 2025-26 season in general so far.
He’s yet to register a goal or assist in 10 total appearances this term, and looks a shell of the player who bagged four goals and six assists in 21 Premier League games last season.

Therefore, he surely isn’t doing enough to warrant retaining his starting role, and Moyes will have heard the reception his Dibling decision received loud and clear.
With some kind fixtures on paper coming up against the likes of Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Wolves, these next few weeks could be an ideal opportunity to blood a highly-talented youngster like Dibling into the starting XI.
