Everton robbed after what Jamie Carragher spotted in Fulham win vs Nottingham Forest

Jamie Carragher has explained why he thinks Everton may have been robbed against Arsenal after a penalty decision that went for Fulham on Monday.

Everton were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal on Saturday at Hill Dickinson Stadium, in a Premier League encounter that had its fair share of controversy.

Thierno Barry and Everton felt aggrieved when the forward wasn’t given a penalty after Arsenal’s William Saliba caught his ankle when trying to clear a ball inside the Gunners’ box.

The Toffees were the underdogs coming into the clash, and David Moyes will have known that his side were going to need luck on their side, but that wasn’t to be the case.

After a moment in Fulham’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Monday, Carragher has now brought Everton’s penalty snub back into question.

Jamie Carragher feels for David Moyes after Fulham latest

Moyes is having to navigate player absences at Everton due to the African Cup of Nations through a brutal winter period of fixtures.

It’s for that reason that the 62-year-old is going to need decisions to go his and Everton’s way, but as fans have learned the hard way, that doesn’t always happen.

While analysing the call live on Sky Sports after the match, Carragher called Fulham’s winning penalty “soft” and explained how Everton should have been given one against Arsenal.

Carragher said: “I thought the penalty decision was harsh, I must say. It feels soft.

“David Moyes will be sat at home thinking ‘how did we not get a penalty’, there’s a lot more force there by Saliba.

“How that is different, I don’t know. For me, I think the Saliba [foul] is much more of a penalty than the one we saw tonight.”

But unfortunately for Moyes, it’s football, and fine margins are costing Everton.

Everton could see the tide turn soon, here’s why

The Toffees have just had two difficult fixtures in Chelsea away, and the league leaders at home, but it’s going to get easier soon.

Burnley and Nottingham Forest away are two favourable matchups during this juicy winter period of matches, but even after that, it gets better.

Everton’s three-game week at home

Everton have a three-game week at Hill Dickinson Stadium, which could give the Blues a lift at the perfect time.

Moyes wants new players at Everton in January, and this run of fixtures may instil a feel-good factor around the place, which may attract targets.

Momentum is vital, and Everton may now have their best run of games to look forward to. Fingers crossed for no more poor officiating.
