Supercomputer predicts outcome of Burnley vs Everton in Premier League showdown

Everton are looking to record their fourth away win of the season when they face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Everton are aiming for Europe under David Moyes, while a first top-half finish since 2020-21 is also on the cards.

The Toffees sit 10th in the table, although just seven points separate fourth and 15th in what is shaping up to be an incredibly entertaining campaign.

Everton lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 20 November, and it highlighted the gulf in class between both sides and how much work the Toffees have to do if they are to qualify for European football in May.

Everton predicted as strong favourites to beat Burnley

Burnley were on a terrible seven-match losing run going into last week’s trip to Bournemouth.

Thankfully for Scott Parker’s side, Armando Broja’s last-gasp equaliser secured them a valuable point on the road, and they sit in 19th place, seven points adrift from safety.

However, according to Opta’s supercomputer, the Toffees should feel confident of returning to winning ways.

Everton are without Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye for the festive period due to their commitments at AFCON, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury, so there are challenges to overcome.

The Toffees have won their last three meetings against Burnley and ended a 13-game winless run when they beat the Clarets 1-0 in April 2024.

Everton are desperate for another win on their travels, and the clash with Scott Parker’s men kicks off a run of games that represent a huge opportunity.

Everton can aim for top five given their festive schedule

Everton are only five points off fifth-placed Liverpool and can easily make up that gap with a positive run of results.

In the space of 11 days, the Toffees face Burnley (19th), Nottingham Forest (17th), Brentford (12th), and Wolves (20th).

No team in the top flight has an easier run of games on paper, and optimism is growing among supporters who believe that their side could be playing continental football next season.

For Moyes and the players, they are taking it just one game at a time, but with the Premier League table looking incredibly open, the next four games could be the moment where the Toffees gain real momentum.
