David Moyes talks only mean one thing for Harrison Armstrong at Everton
Harrison Armstrong may have no choice but to return to Everton from Preston North End in the winter transfer window.
The 18-year-old joined the Championship outfit in the summer on a season-long loan, becoming a key player for Paul Heckingbottom this season.
Armstrong is a regular at Deepdale, with PNE sitting fifth in the league table at the moment.
David Moyes has lost Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to injury, and with Idrissa Gueye also at the Africa Cup of Nations, midfielder reinforcements are clearly needed in L4.

Paul Heckingbottom reveals talks with David Moyes over Harrison Armstrong
Heckingbottom has revealed that he’s spoken with Moyes regarding Armstrong’s loan spell at Preston.
The English manager has admitted that the 62-year-old head coach has to do what’s in his best interest at the Hill Dickinson Stadium when it comes to potentially recalling the 18-year-old midfielder.
In the coming days, the two clubs will continue to speak to each other, and it remains to be seen how the youngster’s situation will unfold.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire on 24 December, Heckingbottom said, “We’ll wait and see. I spoke to Moyes about it last week. I’m really respectful that Harrison is Everton’s player. I’m really grateful that we managed to get him, and David is really respectful, obviously, of this football club.”
The Englishman added, “He knows I’ll look after him, and he’ll be in a better place having been here, but Moyes knows he can’t leave himself exposed with the tough job he’s got in the Premier League. We’ll keep communicating about it and see where it ends up.”
Moyes may risk Armstrong’s development by recalling him, but squad depth is clearly needed at the Merseyside outfit.
Everton can decide to spend big on new midfielder for David Moyes
Connor Gallagher has been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Toffees may have to spend a significant sum on the Atletico Madrid midfielder.
Everton have now lost back-to-back games to Chelsea and Arsenal, and the reality of a lack of quality at Moyes’ disposal has been evident.
If the Blues want to compete for a European spot in the Premier League, they will surely need to bolster their team in the winter transfer window.
While Armstrong would provide a much-needed option for the Scottish manager, it certainly wouldn’t move the needle in terms of the Merseyside outfit’s chances of achieving something special this season.
