Everton to agree Man United swap deal after James Garner exit news
James Garner is wanted by Man United in January, and it could open a valuable door at Everton.
Everton will look to be active in the January transfer window, with a new striker likely to be at the top of their list of priorities.
With Beto struggling for form and Thierno Barry just simply not finding the net, the Toffees’ ambitions of climbing the Premier League table could hinge on that addition.
However, there will also be decisions to be made regarding those currently at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a new exit update emerging on Garner.
Man United ready cut-price deal for Garner
Garner is out of contract at Everton in the summer, with the ability to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad from 1 January.
However, if the Englishman has still not agreed a new deal on Merseyside towards the latter stages of the transfer window, there is a chance that they could cash in, with Man United lurking.
That is according to the Daily Mail, with a report on Boxing Day claiming they see him as an “affordable addition” with more funds to be available in the summer.
The Toffees are said to be keen on agreeing a new contract with the midfielder before the window opens, with talks still ongoing.
Everton also have the ability to extend his contract by 12 months, but given the interested party, there may be a far more suitable alternative.
Kobbie Mainoo could move to Everton
Everton have also been linked with a move for Kobbie Mainoo, and if Man United’s interest in Garner is genuine, there may be a swap deal that could be arranged.
Mainoo is a fringe player at best under Ruben Amorim, and it would be a deal that would suit all three parties.
Garner has been excellent for Everton this season, but Mainoo would be an upgrade, though Napoli are also monitoring any future developments with him.
Ultimately, it may come down to how much Man United value Mainoo at, and how much they are willing to pay to land the signing of Garner.
