David Moyes hits new 19-year low at Everton as damning stats emerge vs Burnley

Everton’s goalscoring woes continued in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Burnley.

David Moyes has been frustrated in recent weeks due to the lack of options he has in certain positions, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jack Grealish among those unavailable against Burnley.

The match at Turf Moor represented a great chance for the Toffees to bounce back from their defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal, but they failed to inflict any damage on the hosts.

Tyler Dibling was promising on the right wing, but there was no cutting edge to Everton‘s attacking play throughout the game.

Despite registering another clean sheet, Moyes can’t seem to do anything to change Everton’s issues in the final third.

Everton on worst goalscoring run under David Moyes since 2006

Beto has severely underperformed for Everton since he joined the Toffees in 2023 and was once again ineffective against the Clarets.

Thierno Barry has also been disappointing, scoring just one goal since his £27million move from Villarreal in the summer.

Having not scored against Burnley, Chelsea, and Arsenal, Everton have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games under Moyes for the first time since April 2006.

Moyes’ first spell in L4 lasted from 2002-2013, and it’s a damning indictment that their goalscoring issues are as bad now as they were back in 2006.

Scoring only 34 goals in that season, something needs to change before they break that record.

Everton’s Premier League record

The Toffees have scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season, with only 20th-placed Wolves (10) having scored fewer.

In the last three matches, the Toffees have had 31 shots and accumulated 2.08 xG, but they’ve had no luck in that time.

Everton need to address their goalscoring issues, and with the January transfer window approaching, they have the perfect opportunity to ease the doubts among fans.

Beto is linked with a move away from the Toffees, and Everton are desperate to find a clinical replacement, with Ivan Toney being the ideal target.

Everton must do whatever it takes to sign Ivan Toney

Toney has been linked with a move to Everton, West Ham, and Tottenham, and the transfer would be hugely beneficial to both parties.

However, the Al-Ahli sporting director has previously claimed that he is not for sale, and a deal would certainly be expensive.

The 29-year-old has scored 39 Premier League goals in less than three seasons at Brentford, and his pedigree in the top flight is unique among strikers who would be willing to join the Toffees.

Toney is clearly the man most suited to Moyes’ style of play that could succeed at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and The Friedkin Group have to act swiftly if they want to secure his services.

This is another low for Moyes at Everton, and he needs help to sort it.
