‘Everton are waiting to take a points deduction’ as joke emerges after latest Manchester City drama
Richard Keys has mooted another Everton points deduction in a tongue-in-cheek comment after what Sean Dyche had to say about Man City.
PSR and FFP are still two of the most talked-about subjects in the Premier League, with Everton having been deducted points in previous campaigns for exceeding the permitted loss threshold.
While the top flight may have been more competitive so far in the current campaign, the gulf in finances and the way they are dealt with is still something that is debated on a weekly basis.
The general consensus is that the teams at the top end of the English pyramid get away with the rules, not just financially, but also elsewhere.

Lack of clarity over Man City charges leads to sarcastic Everton claim
Despite Everton having been punished rather quickly for what, by all accounts, was a fairly minor breach of the rules, Man City are yet to find out the outcome of their case.
The Premier League charged Man City back in 2023 for breaking FFP rules over a nine-year period, between 2009 and 2018.
Man City have denied all charges ever since the accusations came to light, though the delay over the decision has often led to questioning the integrity of the governing bodies, and that was also hinted at by Sean Dyche after his Nottingham Forest side fell to a defeat against them.
The former Toffees manager was stunned that Ruben Dias wasn’t sent off in the clash, with Richard Keys in agreement with Dyche that City get the rub of the green far too often.
Via X, he said: “I agree with Sean Dyche, Guardiola’s teams have always been masters of the dark arts. Apart from anything else, Dias should go. He knew exactly what he was doing. Refs are scared.
“Oh – anyone heard about the 135 charges? Nothing? Everton are waiting to take a points deduction.”
What’s the latest update on Man City’s charges?
As of the time of writing, Man City are yet to receive a final verdict on the case, over two years on since they were first brought to light.
Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executiuve explained how the deicison lies with independent bodies, and that patience will be required.
Undoubtedly, with several Premier League clubs already punished for alleged breaches after those of Man City, many have been left questioning why it has taken so long for a decision to be made.
